Hello All,
Touching base with you and hoping this finds you well and doing ok during this difficult time in our lives. We have to see this through a little longer, the isolation, long lines at the grocery store and especially missing family and friends.
Looks like it will be awhile longer until we can resume our lives and enjoy doing all the things we love, freedom to do as we please. The new date given by the Governor is May 18th which means there will not be any PAA activity until fall the earliest.
We cannot plan anything until we get the ok and we can be free to gather in public places again.
Until then, let’s have a virtual Art Show on Facebook and on PAA’s website. It will be fun for our group and the public to see paintings or photography created during this time of confinement or one of your favorite from the past.
Any sales would be done through the buyer and artist by email or telephone. I have a couple of pieces I will show and look forward to seeing some of yours.
Many thanks to Jeannine Pelkey for her technical assistance with this virtual Art Show and all she does all year long to promote PAA on social media.
Please email your photographs ASAP to peabodymaart@gmail.com Deadline May 15th.
Best Regards,
Ruth

Hello All,
As we continue to follow the necessary precautions to fight the health threat caused by the corona virus and look for ways to free our minds from this crisis for a little while, doing art projects is helpful, exploring something new to try, YouTube is one example.
Get out your paints, brushes, sketch pads
To improve an old watercolor you have cast aside use acrylic paint to bring it back to life. Use more water and less paint to get right consistency of watercolor paint. Worth a try with nothing to lose. Also revisit paintings, you have started but never finished. With a new approach it may be your next great painting.

The Rocky Neck Art Colony director@rockyneckartcolony.org is offering free on line workshop Blogs to participate in and much more on their interesting website. A filmed video talk by writer Elizabeth Gilbert on TED. You may recall she had great success with her first book “Eat Pray Love” which was also a wonderful movie. Her topic “Your elusive creative genius,” the underlying thoughts writers and artists experience, self doubt and fear of never having another successful book or great painting.

Miscellaneous
I had a nice conversation with Chris Munnelly yesterday. Chris is a long time member of PAA, he moved to Texas a few years ago. We chatted for almost an hour. Always nice to hear from him, he sends his regards to everyone. He is still affiliated with Verizon and works from home. Chris spends a lot of time with his daughter and 3 grandchildren who live close by and enjoys his association with a Marshall arts group where he recently earned his black belt. Bravo Chris! He continues doing pen & ink drawings and portraits and is now exploring Japanese brush painting. He sent two photos which are attached.
Chris follows PAA postings on Face Book especially Peabody’s Annual International Festival. He hopes to find time to plan a trip during the fall for the festival’s Art Galleria event to connect with all his friends.
Although our April w/s is cancelled. I’m being optimistic and hope to see you all at May 9th workshop with Marion Hall, a wonderful watercolorist, teacher and great interaction with our group of painters.
Hopefully our world will return to normal by then. Stay tuned and stay healthy and safe.
Best Regards,
Ruth Mowder
Important message!
Dear Members,
Governor Charlie Baker has declared a state of emergency in Massachusetts because of the increase in the spread of the corona virus in Middlesex county and limiting gatherings and meetings to 10 people max.
There are approximately 30 people planning to attend this Saturday’s w/c workshop. As a precautionary measure, a decision has been made to cancel our upcoming March 14th demo/workshop with Susan Ingram at the Torigian Senior Center. We do not want to risk the health and well being of our PAA members to the virus.
This workshop will be rescheduled at a later date to be determined.
Please note: This notice is being sent to everyone on our membership list. Please notify others you know who may plan to attend as a guest, etc. of the cancellation.
Stay safe and healthy!
